Design System

Notation Grammar

Rules for reading and writing A&ID diagrams — tag formats, connection types, and numbering conventions.

Tag Format

Every node gets a unique tag: prefix identifies type, number identifies instance.

AG-001Agent — general purpose (001-099)
eng-001Agent — role-based naming (engineer)
QC-501Instrument — Quality Control, build domain
VC-701Instrument — Value Control, analysis domain
SC-001Instrument — Smart Contract

Connection Types

Line style indicates the type of relationship between nodes.

Data Flow

Data moving between nodes

Control Signal

Control or trigger signal

Feedback

Feedback loop — metrics flowing back

Dependency

Must complete before next step

Incentive

Economic incentive flow

Numbering Conventions

Number ranges indicate the domain an instrument operates in.

Naming Rules

  • 1. Tags are unique within a diagram scope
  • 2. Prefix determines category (AG, QC, VC, FC, SC, OR, GA)
  • 3. Number determines domain (see ranges above)
  • 4. Role-based names (eng-, pm-, qa-) are aliases for AG-XXX
  • 5. Connections always flow left-to-right or top-to-bottom
